Hey Guys,

So today we had a learning circle with some of the other year 8's. A learning circle is a group of students gathering sharing their learning, challenges that they have faced and all their success. I was in a group of lovely girls. I got lots of cool ideas and it was awesome hearing what everyone else was up to. There is such a wide variety! I am very proud of my peers and I!

See Ya,

Hi Guys!

Wow! What a wonderful week last week was! I'm only just recovering. So for those of you that don't know last week I held my Gingerbread Horse Week at School. It was very very successful. I am so close to reaching my $1000 target, I am currently at $720.

It all started on the Monday I showed up late (Traffic wasn't on my side that day!), I was so worried because for the first few minutes I had no customers but after that I had plenty! It was a brillant day and I ended up selling 120 Gingerbread Horse Biscuits!

Then on the Wednesday I held my Teacher Icing Competition at lunchtime. It was so funny. My biggest challenge was finding a judge. We had contacted a professional cookie decorator who couldn't make it, I was FREAKING out! But Thanks to Mum who had a brain wave she suggested Shelley Jackson who is Head of the Old Girls Association. A big big Thank You to her she saved the day!

Our prize winners and the wonderful Shelley presenting the prize!

The teachers so supportive and were hilarious! The way it worked was each teacher had to stand around a table that was covered in lots of decorative items (including chocolate!) and their biscuits. They had 10 minutes to decorate 2 gingerbread biscuits. The main rule was don't eat the ingredients on the table but as soon as we started that when out the window!!! :) Finally at the end we handed out the prizes that were very tempting for the teachers. They were a $20 coffee voucher for 1st Place,  $10 Coffee voucher for 2nd and a $5 coffee voucher for 3rd! Thank You to all the teachers that helped me! Enjoy your prizes!

To conclude my week I sold out of gingerbread biscuits on the Friday! Thank You to everyone who supported me through out the week. Another special Thank You to Amelia from 3A who helped me sell all my biscuits you were a big help! I can now confidently say that it was worth baking 250 Gingerbread Horses!

Monday 15 August 2016

Hi Guys!

I've had the busiest weekend baking biscuits! I've lost count of how many Gingerbread Horses that I've made!

Yesterday was my first day of my Gingerbread Horse Week at school. It was awesome, I sold so many! It was so awesome to see the support of my school, even teachers bought some! In fact sales were so good that I even had to bring some biscuits today!

Wish me luck tomorrow for the Teacher Icing Competition at lunch!

Guess what?! Today as I came home from school I noticed something on the front door! It was the packs from the Riding for Disabled that have the horse cookie cutters and everything you need to participate in the Gingerbread Horse Campaign! I'm so so excited!

Last night we also started trying out some recipes and doing some taste testing! They were great but there was a bit too much Ginger in them!

I'll post again soon!

Got some more exciting things on the way!

Monday 1 August 2016

Hi Guys,

So last time I posted, I told you that I was helping the Riding for Disabled through their Gingerbread Horse Campaign. I also gave you the link for their website in the last post, so feel free to go have a look at that.

My new update is that I have done a lot of brainstorming and thinking and in 3 weeks time I am going to organise a week at my school where I can sell some of the Gingerbread Horses that I have decorated. During the weekend I wrote a very informal letter to my principal to ask for permission to hold my Gingerbread Horse Campaign. On Monday I got the best news, Dr Bird (My principal)
said yes!

On the Monday I will be selling some of the Gingerbread Horse Biscuits that I have baked. I will also be giving out some packs that the Riding for Disabled has given me. In them they have a horse cookie cutter and bags to put your biscuits in for when you sell them. If the girls take these packs and sell there biscuits they will give the money that they have collected to me and I will find a way it to the North Canterbury Riding for Disabled. I will also do this on the Friday lunchtime.

On the Wednesday, I am going to hold a Gingerbread Horse Decorating Competition for the teachers and the students can come and watch. I'm hoping this is going to be a bit of a laugh for the girls!

Until Next Time! Watch this space
